Smith's Hometown Market

Fayetteville store.  Courtesy Chen Yi Hung/The Post-Standard.

Smith's Hometown Markets (not the chain in the western part of the country that I've mentioned before, Smiths Restaurant Supply, or the pioneering Smiths IGA on NY 90 in Genoa in the Finger Lakes) was a small chain in Onondaga and Madison Counties that may have started by the mid-'60s and went out of business in 2001-02 one by one, going the way of the Smiths.  Because very little information is available, I've had to dig a little as much of this has faded into obscurity.  Comments are welcomed.

Fayetteville - NY 5 & 257 at 104 Salt Springs St (picture found after a few weeks of intense research); where Arquette & Associates Real Estate (former Century 21 affiliate) are now, although Hometown stablemates Peters was where Kohls is today a mile or two away.  Both were also IGA franchises until the '80s.  Previously Red & White.

Cazenovia - US 20 & NY 13, previously Harris Foodliner and Grand Union, now Kinney Pharmacy

Chittenango - NY 5 & 13, now Kinney Pharmacy

Minoa - Costello Parkway, now Sunshine Mini Mart

Brewerton - US 11 & Bartel Road, now Dollar General

Baldwinsville - NY 48, later Smokey Hollow Market, now vacant

East Syracuse - Kinne St & Kirkville Road, now Dollar Tree and Subway.  Previously Acme.

Manlius - NY 173, now Dollar Tree

Cicero - NY 31, now ALDI

Camillus - Milton Ave. & Hinsdale Rd. (off NY 5), Elm Hill Plaza.  Previously Synders IGA and later Araces and Burnet Market. Now various businesses including 3fifteen.
