Northeast Grocery sale

Market 32 montage of Price Chopper on Syracuses east side

Northeast Grocery, Inc., the parent company of Price Chopper/Market 32 and Tops, are reportedly looking to sell, with help from UBS. I could see it go to a conglomerate with no current foothold in this part of the country. Tops were formerly owned by Ahold until they spun off and Ahold merged with Delhaize in the Benelux, so they couldn't be a contender since Hannaford compete with these chains. Northeast dismiss it as speculation, which is what we do here, but it's just too soon to know.
